  • SCOPE
    • CPU Upgrade for Kangal Rolling Mill Connection PLC System at İskenderun Iron and Steel Company
    • Upgrade of the CPU in the existing PLC panel at Kangal Rolling Mill as specified in the technical specifications.
    • Renewal of the PLC panel as per the specifications, transfer of the existing process software to the new system with necessary modifications, software and license updates, provision of operator and engineering stations.
    • Design, procurement, disassembly, assembly, testing, and commissioning of the panel, cabling, and cable installation according to the specified requirements.
    • The task involves renewing a portion of the existing ABB automation system.
    • Re-drafting of the existing PLC circuit diagrams according to the new situation using Eplan software.
    • Extraction, upgrade, and necessary modifications of the software from existing PLCs, and transferring and adapting it to the new PLCs.
    • Preparation of all HMI and SCADA screen pages for Touch panels and OSs in the ABB PLC Automation System, design and definition of alarms, trends related to the process, and completion of any missing SCADA, alarm, trend, etc., identified during commissioning.
    • Establishment of the communication system for the automation network.
  • EXECUTION

    The existing Coiling PLC System CPUs were replaced with PM891 CPUs since they exceeded the capacity limit.

    With the renewal to be made, new ABB PLC panels will be provided instead of the existing ABB PLC panels and CPU and I/O modules will be updated. Necessary additions, license updates and some adjustments were made to the application software installed on the existing ABB PLC and installed on the new CPUs to be supplied.

    IBA system will be added to the automation system, so fault analysis, signals and trends have been done more efficiently.

    With the renewal of the binding PLC system and the installation of the RFID system and its integration into the automation system, the tracking of which pallet the coil is on and which arm of the coil is on the pallet and which arm of the coil is on the pallet has been added to the software.

    With the communication of the system with İsdemir Level2 and Level3, it will be easier to track the product produced on the line and system and the traceability of the product has been ensured.
    With the addition of operator computers to the automation system, alarms and fault signals were added to the system.

    In this way, situations that cause delays in solving problems or incorrect processing have been significantly reduced.

    Since production increases with the shortening of downtime, operator-induced failures have decreased, fault detection has become easier, and there is complete monitoring and control over the system and labor savings have been achieved.
